Dr. Nieto earned her Dental Degree in 1992 graduating at the top 1% of her class. After several years in private practice she decided to further her education and was accepted to a two year hospital based residency at Louisiana Health Sciences Center- LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans.

During her residency she obtained advance training in oral surgery, implant dentistry, cosmetic and restorative dentistry as well as sedation dentistry. She excelled during the program and was named OR Senior Chief Resident. After graduation in July 2002 she went to private practice in New Orleans where she was actively involved with the dental profession until she relocated to the Northern Virginia area in 2006.

She continued working in private practice in the Virginia area. Her practice philosophy is centered on conservative, comprehensive, cosmetic dentistry; with that philosophy in mind, Dr. Nieto founded, designed and opened West Broad Dental in October 2009. She has been serving the community of the City of Falls Church and surrounding areas since then.

Dr. Nieto has spent years nurturing an excellent team of support staff and skilled doctors to provide the highest quality dental care for her patients.

In order to assure that you are getting the best dental care that modern dentistry has to offer, Dr. Nieto is passionate about furthering her education by consistently attending lectures, courses and conferences.

Dr. Nieto is an active member of the American Dental association, Virginia Dental Association and Northern Virginia Dental Association.

Dr. Paola Sugajara is Board eligible Prosthodontist. She graduated from Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, Lima-Peru in 2001, earned her DDS in 2002. After getting her dental degree Dr. Sugajara traveled abroad to do a fellowship in the Fixed Prosthodontist department at Tohoku – University, Japan in 2002 and 2005.

Her eagerness and passion for Dentistry leaded her to specialize in Prosthodontics from 2013 to 2016 at Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Rochester- New York, where she also graduated from a 2 year program in Advance Education in general Dentistry, followed by GPR programs in 2011 and 2012 respectively.

Dr. Sugajara is dedicated to provide a high standard of dental care, very creative in her approach to patients and her goal is her patient’s satisfaction. she is an active member of the American College of Prosthodontic Society while she maintains a full time private practice limited to Prosthodontics and Restorative Cosmetics Dentistry in Virginia.

When her schedule allows her, she likes to travel abroad, going to different countries for new life experiences, visit her family in Peru. Also, she enjoys indoor activities with friends as playing bowling, dining out among others.

Dr. Juliana Bermudez is a general dentist with more than 15 years of experience. Dr. Bermudez integrates every dental treatment to suit her patients’ goals providing them with gentle, honest and quality care during each visit.

Dr. Juliana Bermudez earned her dental degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. Following her dreams and passion dedicated to making beautiful and healthy smiles, she decided to pursue advanced education and obtained her Doctor in Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Loma Linda University in 2008.

Since then, she continued to develop her expertise working in private practices around the Orlando, FL area until 2022 when she relocated to Reston, VA.  Today, she stays on top of current developments in dentistry by being an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Northern Virginia Dental Association. 

In her personal time, Dr. Bermudez enjoys activities with her husband and daughter. They love traveling to new places to have memorable adventures and can’t wait to explore all that the Northern Virginia area has to offer.

Dr. Edison A. Abril specializes in Periodontics and Implant Dentistry, committed to delivering trustworthy, respectful, and ethical care for your teeth, implants, and gums. He believes in dedicating the necessary time to each patient, ensuring the highest quality of care, whether for a consultation or a complex surgical procedure.

Dr. Abril graduated from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri, where he earned both a degree in periodontics and a Master of Science in Dentistry (Research). During his residency, he served as a clinical instructor at Southern Illinois University, imparting his knowledge and expertise to future dental professionals.

His professional journey extends beyond the classroom to international practice. Dr. Abril spent two years in private practice in Bogotá, Colombia, where he also holds a degree in general dentistry. In Northern Virginia, he practiced general dentistry for five years, discovering his passion for periodontics and dedicating himself to focused patient care.

With over 13 years of experience, Dr. Abril is proficient in all aspects of non-surgical and surgical periodontal procedures. His expertise includes bone grafting around teeth and implants, plastic surgery for gum recession or poor gum quality, and crown lengthening procedures. Dr. Abril collaborates with colleagues on cases such as gummy smiles and canine exposures to enhance patients’ smiles. He is also highly skilled in dental implant surgery, offering state-of-the-art implants that look and function like natural teeth. Lastly, he implements surgical techniques that can streamline the implant process. A process called “tooth-in-a-day”.

In addition, Dr. Abril is LANAP® and LAPIP™ certified, utilizing the PerioLase® periodontal laser to treat periodontal disease conservatively. This advanced approach involves no incisions, no stitches, and offers better recovery times, significantly improving the health of teeth and implants with previously poor prognoses.

Dedicated to advancing his skills, Dr. Abril has received intensive surgical training in the United States, Colombia, Mexico, Portugal, Italy, Spain, Brasil and Hungary. He remains an active Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is a member of the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry and the Academy of Osseointegration.

Originally from Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Abril now resides in Aldie, Virginia, with his wife Paola and their daughter Sarah. Fluent in both English and Spanish, he is passionate about improving the quality of his patients’ lives by treating diseases that cause tooth loss and impact overall health. Dr. Abril continually seeks to enhance his skills and stay abreast of the latest advancements in periodontal care.

Dr. Claudia Cruz is an orthodontist with a rich educational and professional background. She earned her dental degree in Bogotá, Colombia, and then soon after, she pursued rigorous advanced training, obtaining certifications from the Argentinean Society of Orthodontics and from the prestigious New York University School of Global Public Health and Columbia University College of Dental Medicine.

She served as a full-time clinical assistant professor in the Orthodontics Department at New York University before attending Columbia University College of Dental Medicine for additional studies in Dental Public Health, with a Fellowship in Primary Care. At Columbia, she earned a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Dr. Cruz has since served as a mentor for dual-degree DDS/MPH students and as an ad-hoc consultant to the research department at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. Since 2018, she has been practicing in Northern Virginia, where she combines technology and a passion for her profession to improve outcomes and access to care. Her treatment philosophy focuses on comprehensive diagnosis and creating facial harmony by addressing skeletal, dental and periodontal components of the patient.

Driven by an unwavering commitment to staying at the forefront of orthodontic technology, her expertise in clear aligner and 3D printing orthodontic technology and dental public health topics has been featured in orthodontic journals and magazines and other media sources. Dr. Cruz now serves as a consultant to cutting-edge clear aligner treatment planning technologies. Here, she pioneers tech-friendly approaches rooted in evidence-based science, ensuring patients of all ages receive the most advanced care available.

This rich educational background has equipped Dr. Cruz with a comprehensive understanding of oral health, community, and orthodontic care. She continues to work on the transformation of the delivery of orthodontic care as the field aligns with a patient centered approach focused on prediction and prevention. Dr. Cruz is a Fellow of the International College of Dentistry, an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association and Northern Virginia Dental Association and has been a guest speaker at numerous orthodontic conferences, academic and community events locally and internationally.
